PHOTOS OF LUXEMBOURG

FIRST TOUR BY EUROPE PART V: LUXEMBOURG

LUXEMBOURG

Luxembourg is a very nice country. The capital, called with the same name, is not as nice as other European cities, but also is nice and is not bad. I can't speak much about it because we only were a few hours, but we could see that is very pacely. Also we must remember that is another UE's city. It was a member founder and much meetings of the European Government are held here.

The prices are standard for the things, although the life here is expensive. Also the people has good salaries, so in general is a rich country.

The best way to know the city is going first to the Tourism Office and get a map with the itinerary to cover Luxembourg.

The negative part is that, if you go on Sunday, like us, all is closed and there is not much ambience.  We only found an open shop, when I could by some postcards. Javi remained without its scarf.

What can not miss you when you travel to Luxembourg:

In fact is quite redundant and a city of step. Nevertheless it's worth while to have a walk by the city and to see the Corniche, the Guillaum Square, the Constitution Square, the Adolph Bridge above the Petrusse River and the Ducal Palace, that we couldn't see because it was closed, but it's possible to visit other days.

12TH AUGUST 2007

We start our way towards Luxembourg and only in two hours we arrive. We take a long time to find a hotel and is not because all is complet, but we don't find anyone. At the end we find a Novotel, that is better than an Ibis, (is also from the Accord chain) and the price is very good but it's 7 km away from the centre. The bed is soooo big, enormous. The first thing we do is to have a rest and I see Javi so far away from me. I think in this bed can sleep 4 people without touching. At 5 o'clock we go to the city and we go to the Tourism Office to get a map.

The few museums that exist are closed, as same as the Ducal Palace, where the Kings of Luxembourg live. There is not a lot of ambience: few people, few shops and all closed and few bars and restaurants, but one notice that the people here has a high adquisitive power. You only have to see the cars that are parked on the street. We spend the evening walking by the city. We cover the Corniche, a nice path and we see Le Bock, a rock with a nice view of the river and Luxembourg.

When is becoming night, we go to a pizzeria when you can take the food away. We decided to take two pizzas to the hotel. After having dinner, we have a shower, we spend some time and we go to the bar because tonight we have a free drink again. And we have another anecdote: while we are having a drink, we see a couple having dinner and we think that is too late. But our surprise come when we take a look at our watches and see that only it's 09:45. So here's the question: at what time did we have dinner??

It's time to come back to the room. Javi suggest to go to Berlin tomorrow. I say "it's 800 km away from here", and he says "I know. What's the problem?" So Berlin, here we go!!
